The modernisation of the stage equipment was completed within just six weeks and included the replacement of the existing chain hoists with a fixed-point hoist system. As part of the upgrade, all new and existing hoists were fully integrated into the C⋅A⋅T V4 control system.

With two large performance spaces housed in different parts of the complex, the theatre offers a total capacity of 1,500 seats and hosts around 600 performances each year. The traditional Pfauen venue is located in Zurich-Hottingen, while the multifunctional Schiffbau building in Zurich-West includes a smaller venue known as The Box.
Replacing an entire stage system within just six weeks? No problem for Waagner-Biro Stage Systems. During the theatre’s summer break, Waagner-Biro Stage Systems successfully replaced the existing basic equipment in The Box. To ensure both safety and flexibility, the old chain hoists were replaced with a fixed-point hoist system featuring movable drop-down pulleys, and new motor rooms were constructed. The newly installed point hoists and chain hoists were then fully integrated into the existing C⋅A⋅T V4 control system – along with the venue’s panoramic hoists – creating a reliable and modern solution for dynamic stage operation.
