The Mardi Gras is a cruise ship operated by the US shipping company Carnival Cruise Line. The XL class ship and was completed in December 2020. The Mardi Gras is Carnival Cruise Line’s largest ship.

The Mardi Gras is the fourth ship of the Helios class. The ships can be operated with liquefied natural gas. It is the first ship with this technology for Carnival Cruise Line. Another sister ship destined for Carnival Cruise Line, Carnival Celebration is scheduled for delivery in 2022.

The highlight on these cruise ships are two large LED systems, which provide attraction.

The 16 freely rotatable and vertically movable LED panels are located in front of the curved window front within the Grand Central. During performances, these so-called “blades” together form an LED area of 21 m x 7 m, where shows and films can be shown. The special thing about it is that the blades can rotate vertically around their own axis. When the ship docks in a port, the panels are turned outwards. So you can also enjoy the videos shown from the port.

When not in use, the video wall can be stowed away in the stage and ceiling. To do this, the “blades” are rotated and driven into the ceiling and floor. The so-called “cover panels” close the hatches in the stage floor and can be walked on when locked. This means that the entire stage floor in front of the window front can be used again.
